At Stonehouse we are privileged to have a huge outdoor facility that incorporates a large sports field, an outdoor classroom, sprung soft play areas, growing areas and a quiet sensory garden with sitting areas. All of which ensures the outdoors are a fantastic resource, providing endless learning opportunities for children of all ages. Safety is paramount and all areas are safe and secure with controlled access throughout the nursery day.

Our outdoor facilities are an extension of the indoor facilities with specifically designed areas for under and over 2’s. Two separate sprung surfaces, one including age appropriate climbing frames provide an ideal exploration environment for our younger children, to extend their gross motor skills. A large hard standing is ideal for group activities, mark making or simply running around. The lower garden encompasses a sensory area; fruit trees and vegetable beds add to the sensory experience and encourage healthy eating within the nursery. A purpose build maze is perfect for literacy activities or simply playing hide and seek! In addition we have a large enclosed field which is accessible by all the children, what ever the weather. We provide and utilise ‘wet weather’ clothing to ensure that even if its drizzling the children can experience the great outdoors.
